Longleaf Elementary wins $10,000 for teaching kids how to code.

Today fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago…huh? Longleaf Elementary in Hattiesburg is doing it’s part to change that. The school has been chosen as the Mississippi winner of Code.org’s annual $10,000 prize for participation in the Hour of Code event, this year held the week of December 7th. Congratulations to the faculty, parents, and most especially students of Longleaf. Code on kids, code on.

Innovate Mississippi puts on another Discover Luncheon. Thursday December 10th at the C Spire corporate headquarters in Ridgeland, Mississippi that state’s leading innovation incubator hosts one of it’s signature Discovery Luncheons. Speakers include Katie Fuller (product manager for C Spire), podcasting savant Beau York, and there’s even talk of uber awesome door prizes.

FNC Readies for The Forge ’15

Oxford-based software company and all-around-corporate-innovation-champion FNC is readying for their third annual 24-hour hackathon called The Forge. The 2015 version of The Forge kicks off at 9am on 12/16. In a related news, coffee and energy drink companies servicing the Oxford market have witnessed a sudden surge in their stock prices.
